2nd time i played this (first time i messed up..) i went with 4 combat and 1 logi which got me to level 5 without any trouble(i will probably come back to go on more later but cant be botherd now)

normaly i love this kind of game but afew things let it down
1) theres no real guide, you have to learn how to play on your own, which likly means restarting at some point.
2) massive amount of useless items, a wreck will drop like 10 items... if you cant find the shop you soon hit the limit and have to dump stuff
3) there is almost nothing in the shop worth buying once you get the money to buy things... most the time i dont even look unless its a rare colour... by level 5 i had 25,000 credits and nothing worth buying, im still using lvl 1-2 stuff which is better than lvl 5 shop items..
4)its mostly the same thing every level..

when i started i couldnt belive people gave it such a low score, now i find myself going for the 3/5 button too

Interesting game that is complicated to begin with and difficult to know which mix of ships are going to help or hinder the campaign. Not sure that I really liked it.3/5

have to agree with the analogy with monsters den. very much in the same light. There a few differences, like the shop being on each level but with the low income available most of the items in it are way over the budget and most are not even as good as most of the crap picked up from fights and wreckage's.

in effect this is a clone... and as such gets lower marks for that fact

Can't say I like the game. It needs tooltips as it can be very confusing at the start. It also just tries to be Monsters den in space, but doesn't pull it off well enough.

I loved monsters den. This is no monsters den, though it tries to be. The biggest issue I have so far is the items are so damn confusing.

I'm on level eleven, and the main issue I'm noticing is item scaling. I have some L2 and L3 items that, due to the vagaries of luck, just happen to be able to beat anything I can find in L11. It's just not worthwhile to pick up any weapon system that isn't labeled 'Dual', and most of the armors are so underpowered that I just wait for a Powercore to come along that happens to have Fortified or Shielded. I have a plasma-wielding ship that, right now, does ~900 per overpower, and ~700 per normal shot. I can two-shot the Sector Leaders with its' basic attack. The only issue with this is the simple fact that I've had these weapons for a few levels already, and they're not likely to be replaced. At all. There are an immensely few weapons which have the 'Dual' name, and any that don't have it are just vendor trash, at this point. Missiles are severely underpowered, as well.

The strategy, near as I can tell (And it's taken me far) is Two Combat, two Logi, and one Specialist.
