That game is written off as a loss to Sega

It is a rumor, however, Jeff Gertsmann was the person who talked about it, and PSO2 Meseta he's not some random. Granted, he is not super influential in the gaming scene, but he's very much an experienced reporter and game reviewer, even if he isn't a journalist; he has a great deal of connections. Not very long after the announcement of PSO2 for its west back in 2012, alot of downsizing happened for the western branches of SEGA, especially SEGA of America. For some time SEGA had to focus only on a few important franchises at the westand it was just after SEGA of America was merged into Atlus USA in 2015 that things started to get much better.

There was no way they could have handled a massive online game like PSO2 during those decades, and even after the merge, they were occupied with not just localizing more games from franchises that they could not in the years before, but also they were busy with enhancing their localization process so the western discharges could be nearer to the JP releases. Even now in 2020 the recent SEGA of America/Atlus USA would not have been able to handle the entire PSO2 project independently (as we can see from the partnership between SEGA and Microsoft with MS hosting the servers and community and service being outsourced to ESTSoft).

"We heard a great deal of players say they have been waiting eight long years for this release. [laughs] We were really happy about that." Sorry) one rather than a mocking one. It is in the end of a question about how hot that the beta was. It reads as"a lot more individuals played beta than anticipated, and informed us they had been waiting eight long years with this - so we were happy at just how hot it was" instead of"we had been happy folks were waiting for eight years" Frankly I am just glad the game is out, it is doing well, we're really getting content upgrades and such.

Therefore, even if they didn't care we appear to be in a fine place at this time and that's what's important. Just keep playing and supporting the game if you enjoy it and hopefully Sega will see that they have a good enough player base here not to bungle things in the future. What a non response for the why the 8 year wait question. Its apparent they lost interest long ago and only changed their mind with this release because of Microsoft practically funding it. All of what has been mentioned here makes quite a great deal of sense in retrospect. The clunky translation on account of the group not having much control on it, and also the huge delay for the EN version. For all those of you who do not recall, PS as a string has had some really DOGSHIT customer support at the west, all the way back to PSO. Sega as a business has an extreme tendency toward the crippling fear of making cash.

Gotta love how that dude's experience is gatchas and the SEA fiasco, which makes me feel so comfortable with buy Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta the game's future... SEGA simply don't like the westand we would have never gotten this game if not for a major firm like MS. I don't know if it's due to bad history with cheaters from PSO /PSU, or still sore over the Dreamcast's demise which was all thier own fault. Heck they arent even Sega anymorethey are Sega Sammy. How the mighty has fallen.
