this is actually a pretty decent game. ive played the latest version on KG, and it's lots of fun. it's MEANT to be challenging, the fact that you cant build ships makes them a coveted resource and encourages you to try to actually think before you click rather than charging into the fray guns blazing. im currently working on completing the entire game on hard difficulty (and it IS possible, just not easy). this is a real time STRATEGY game, you are expected to learn and utilize the strengths of each unit you own. for example, zig zagging in the darkstar will allow it's forward guns to alternate firing on one target. hit and runs work well in the stark as it has forward and rear firing guns allowing it to hit hard charging and retreating. dont send you're destroyers charging ahead of you're cruisers to die, let them hand back then launch a hit and run on a large enemy when they are already engaged with you're heavy ships. in the latest version of the game, ships dont collide. the lack of weapon refits can be annoying but it is meant to give each ship a unique playstyle. yeah, i'd like an overhauled upgrade systems with weapon mods, but i dont think the storyline would allow you to just stop at any random starport for a weapon refit.

I hope this is just pre-beta version since otherwise this is piece of crap, 5 things to upgrade per ship and none of those is weapons, can't buy more ships so if loses 1 or more then needs to survive with remaining, not much money given to do upgrades (most what is gotten goes to repairing), game is tough even on easy, ships move like in tar and sometimes shoot far and sometimes close, weapons are slightly better than crap, very nice graphics with ok sounds.

overall bad game but it has potential if player can build more ships (3 against 6 isn't exactly nice) and if money is given more for upgrades and something is done to ships movement. too much text too little to do.

... At least they could have made the ships not act like pilotless vessels of stupid. Movement does not maintain formations. Movement can cause ships to collide and bounce... and they just keep doing it.
In a game where you have only defensive upgrade choices, this is especially glaring. Your softer targets will move ahead if you move as a group, and end up making your day go sour. A halfway decent formation AI is a basic of RTS games... and a lack of that leaves this game lacking.
The lack of key re-assignment options is also annoying.
1/5 due to basic functionality that should be standard not available. Otherwise, 3/5.
