bdj said it all really .. lots of potential for a good game set of games here

I have seen others as well and it drops in my estimation because of the rest of the series.

This game is a new idea, but Im not sure I like it. It is really hard to get anything with your apprentice, and the gameplay is not really rpg. 3/5 stars for originality.

Great game which takes a lot of thought to play. In early weeks the stress level can be a big problem and takes a lot of micro managing to try and ensure that you get through the game but if you are not careful you will spend a lot of time 'resting'. Overall I like it but not quite a favourite.4/5

My Pet Protector is a 'life management' RPG. The goal is to take an 'initiate' and develop his character over a short, two-year period. Every activity performed will take a full week, so this two-year period goes by rather quickly.

This game is not your standard RPG! Yes, it does have some overland and dungeon adventuring, lots of training advancement, various armor and weapon items, and, of course, a shop to buy/sell items. But it also requires your character to earn his keep by working one of several 'jobs' (re; construction, stablehand, Church work, Night Guard, et al). While working, you will have 'good' days (where you'll earn wages) and 'bad' days (where you'll earn nothing). Eventually, you'll become efficient at your job and have more more 'good' days than 'bad days', until, finally, all days are 'good' and you'll receive a full weeks pay.

The most import factor to manage is your character's stress-level. Almost everything your character does increases his stress level, wheter it be work, training, or adenturing. Once the stress-level reaches about '60', he's had enough and must rest to lower the stress-level. He can rest for free at home (not all that effective), go to town for 20 g (much better for recoperation), or spend the gold to go to the beach or the forrest. Each resting period is one week, and it may take several weeks to bring the stress-level to a manageable number.

This game is unique, multifaceted, and has great replay value. You can develop your character as a fighter, magic user, poet, et al, each requiring their own skill-set. I raher enjoyed playing this game (I chose the warrior path) and look forward to playing the sequel.
