Using adventurer belt, god power and trinity force i lost only 1 guy in the last battle due to poor crowd management. Enemy AI is very simple: attack closest. So you can get injured units out very easy.
The last tier heroes is mostly useless, best units are ranger (good range and movement) and high priest (area heal that also hurt enemies in the area, briliant
one warrior and the rest mages for every lvl worked fine for me and as a rule i never waste money on cheap upgrades so i didnt need to reply lvls for money, the first upgrade i got was 80gp god power, 2nd was 180gp trinity force then the 60gp bastard (sword?) which made my mages hit massive amounts..
simple game with almost no learning curve which i doubt will keep peoples intrest, maybe a zombie survival mode or harder difficulty settings would of kept me playing longer..

That's why I suggested it.
It's different from other turn-based strategy games, because it's more casual. In that way, it is very thinned out. No ability trees, no level ups, no loads of different powers or action choices. I understand, that this might not appeal to the average strategy gamer.
Instead, each level can be played through in only a few minutes, it's simple, straightforward, quite easy and short.
From that point of view, as a casual strategy game, I think, Hired Heroes is well done and entertaining, and I hand out 4 stars out of 5.
To buy all the items, you will definately have to replay maps.
The only map with any challenge is the last map. The others should be too easy.
I would agree that this game is slightly sub-par for the genre.

overall ok game but there are better games in same genre.
the men you have available for each mission are specific to the level you are playing. you cannot use a newly unlocked character in an earlier mission despite being able to use any of the items bought from the shop.
you need to play levels over and over to get the cash to buy the better items so your men and ladies stay alive long enough to take out the enemies.
it is a basic cartoon based game with stylised characters and a basic attack system.
